Brand new for 2024, IFE Manufacturing are excited to announce a new ingredients awards scheme in association with IFST. Recognising excellence across food and drink ingredients, the IFE Manufacturing Ingredients Awards will look forward to a new era in Food Science and technology.
This award scheme celebrates Food Science and technology as applied in the ingredients industry resulting in innovative products harnessing research and creativity to satisfy and delight consumers in healthy, sustainable, and delicious foods.

Awards Categories
Innovative Protein Sources
With the global demand for protein set to rise by 135% by 2050 according to FAO estimates, increasingly innovative ways are needed to satisfy this need whilst ensuring that concerns relating to sustainability are met. This award is looking not only for new protein sources but also ways that existing protein types are used in innovative ways to satisfy dietary needs and produce products that excite and satisfy consumer demand.
New Technologies for Improved Health
The judges are looking for cutting-edge use of technologies used to enhance consumers' health for example in improved food safety and product quality, new ways of processing traditional ingredients to produce innovative products, and ways of combining ingredients to produce products with enhanced dietary benefits.
Achieving Sustainable Solutions
With the focus on achieving net zero and reducing food waste the judges are particularly keen to hear from companies using waste streams to create new product types and from companies undertaking action under the science-based targets initiative to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions or are on the pathway to B Corp status.
New Ingredient Launch from a Start-up Company
This category is open to companies that have fewer than 50 employees and have launched a new ingredient in the last two years that has captured the imagination of their customers or the public. The judges are particularly keen to hear case studies that explain how the product performs in the end product or the effects on a customer’s business from using this ingredient.
Simplified Ingredient Lists for Clean Labels
This is an opportunity to showcase the use of traditional ingredients in a non-traditional manner to produce innovative products or introduce enhanced functionality in existing products. Your entry could also showcase where an ingredient has enabled a simpler, shorter or decomplexified formulation due to multiple benefits and improvements to structure, texture, flavour or to provide a nutritional advantage.
